Through personal experience, Bev Nielsen has developed an extensive awareness and knowledge of the issues of accessibility and the need for adaptability in multi-family housing. These concepts were applied to an adaptable housing pilot project, Zajac Norgate House, and recognized for their innovation by a CMHC Flexhousing award and the Canadian Home Builders Silver Georgie Award. The adaptable design principles were subsequently developed into the City of North Vancouver’s Adaptable Housing Guidelines and form the basis of BC Housing’s Supportive Housing Guidelines.
